We have had a very busy Christmas this year – and loved every minute of it.
Our Musical Director, Andrew Chinnock has really put us through our paces this festive season. With a whole booklet of new Christmas music to learn and numerous events to participate in, we have had our busiest Christmas yet. The ‘do-be-do’s’, ‘ding-a-lings’ and sleigh bells have been well and truly ringing in the season.
We began in Pontypridd on 17th November with the GTFM event to switch on the Christmas lights,
followed soon after with the switching on of lights on the community Christmas tree in Abercynon on 6th December. This was a fun evening where we donned our best Christmas jumpers and joined members of Cor Meibion, Abercynon and the children of Abercynon school as they eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa. Well done to all who worked so hard to organise this event – we had a ball.
A quick Santa Dash of our own later the same evening and we were singing at the Glantaff Inn advent calendar event in Quaker’s Yard. Thank you to Steve and his staff for the warm welcome (and the food was delicious!) Hope you enjoyed.
Our ladies are loving being busy this December!
8th December was the ArtisCommunity – Light up the night event at St. Catherine’s Church, Pontypridd. Big thank you to ArtisCommunity for inviting us and Only Drive Aloud Choir for letting us share your evening. Wonderful atmosphere and the lanterns made by the children were spectacular.
This was followed by a Christmas carols fundraiser at Penallta Rugby Club (where we were also able to wish a happy ‘big’ birthday to one of our founder members Pat! (Now don’t ask a lady her age – our lips are sealed!)) and our Choir social evening and Christmas meal.
On the 20th of December it was an honour to be invited to participate in a carol service in a place which held a very special place in the heart of a former choir member (who sadly passed away earlier this year), Hebron Evangelical Church, Dowlais. A poignant evening to end our Christmas celebrations of 2018.
Wishing everyone the very best of the season and a happy and healthy 2019.
